Mitch Albom, the author of The Five People You Meet in Heaven and Tuesdays with
Morrie,
has presented his new work, One More Day.  Once again, Albom provides us
with an easy to read story that is absorbing and grabs at the heart.  This tale relates the
tragic story of Charley "Chick" Benetto, who has bottomed out in life, and who has
become so incapable of functioning, that he even fails in his attempt to kill himself. In his
failure, Chick is provided with one miraculous look through a window to the past and an
opportunity to step through a door to new future, if he can. The question is, Will he?
There are only 205 pages in this new hardback release, but just about every page
provides us with a new and important element of the story.  Albom has managed to fill
this short work with multiple scenes, stories, and essential life elements that take this
man’s tragic life and presents to us a captivating possibility to consider, “What if I had
one day to do over?”

One More Day may lack the power of The Five People You Meet in Heaven, and the
tenderness and intimacy of
Tuesdays with Morrie, but it is a “good read” and provides
us with another lesson that, if we are only smart enough to heed, we may net a better
life.
